Strawberries are my favorite fruit but in America they look great in the box but most often taste like straw. Why do you buy them? Why do you accept them? Some people put sugar on them, crazy. Before you buy, simply open the package and taste a strawberry, if great then buy it.
Once in Paris, I just touched a papaya and the clerk got mad at me for just touching it. In Japan you can buy amazing strawberries. I love to go there in late March and pick the strawberries at a greenhouse.
Remember, try it before you but it and you get what you accept.
